Bathroom Plumbing Overview

Good bathroom plumbing would be the foundation of a great and functional bathroom. Whether you are doing some bathroom remodeling or if you are planning out the design of the bathroom of your new home, you would have to consider a number of things to ensure that the plumbing would be set up properly.

The plumbing system basically performs the job of supplying water into the bathroom and removing the waste water. The important thing with a plumbing system is that since it is connected to a sewer or a septic source, it should be able to efficiently prevent the possible hazard of any gases coming from the sewer from being able to seep back into the bathroom's waste pipes.

The whole process of setting up the plumbing of an entire bathroom could seem like a huge and challenging project and in a way, it is. However, with the proper knowledge and the proper tools and equipment, a bathroom with a good plumbing system is not that hard to achieve.

As mentioned, it would be essential to make sure that all the water lines and waste lines have been properly installed as well ensuring that all the fixtures are in place. To do so, you would need to have the exact fittings, pipe sizes and the accurate measurements of the sink, toilet, tub, shower area and the other plumbing fixtures.

There are also some other specific things that you would need to consider for the plumbing fixtures in your bathroom.

First, for toilets, if both pieces are set as one unit, it could be heavy and awkward. So, the bowl should be installed first then the tank. The closet flange or the fitting which connects the waste pipe and the toilet should be plugged with a rag, if it does not have some kind of the seal in the center. This is because it should be able to block out the sewer gases up until the toilet has been set.

As for installation of the plumbing for sinks, it would be good to make use of white PVC pipes instead of black ABS, particularly if you would be using a light-colored sink.

Other bathroom elements that would need good plumbing would be the tub and shower units as well as their water lines.

Some other plumbing add-ons that you could choose to install in your bathroom would be multiple body sprayers. Body sprayers are fixtures that propel water to any direction and would be great to use to massage your body. Also a great additional feature would be steam jets which could fill up your glass shower enclosure with a lot of steam. This would let you have your own steam room.
